English Language Arts

Homework is an integral part of the education process; it allows the students extra practice of what they have learned in the classroom and the parents to know what their children are learning. Teachers give students a hard copy of their homework weekly; however, students sometimes lose their packets or spend the night away from home without their homework. By providing an online copy, parents and students still have access to their assignments.

Printing the homework pages is unnecessary; students may read the screen and use notebook paper to answer questions. Teachers will accept this without taking away any negative consequences. Most of our homework is saved as .pdf files to allow easy access for all stakeholders.

We leave the prior week’s homework posted if there is a need to make up assignments. After that, they are removed from the site, but parents can still request old assignments from the teachers if necessary. If you have any questions about your child’s homework, please feel free to contact the teacher.

All BIA students in grades 2 through 8 receive daily instruction in English Language Arts (ELA). This gives our students the advantage of language arts instruction in their Target language as well as in English.

4th Grade ELA has a complex design. We have advanced-level 3rd graders learning the 4th-grade curriculum! To ensure that the student work is available to all students, the teacher has asked that the homework for her students stays posted on the website for an entire quarter. This will make it easier for students to make up homework if they missed assignments due to extended absence, etc.
